Caring for someone you love is a lot. You deserve a break too.

Looking after a partner, parent or relative is usually done out of love, but it can also be tiring, both physically and emotionally.
Perhaps you have a hospital appointment, a family wedding or a short holiday coming up, or you simply need a full night's sleep. Asking for help can feel like letting someone down. It isn't.
With respite care at home, one of our trained carers steps in while you take time for yourself. We get to know your loved one first: their routines, preferences and the little things that make their day feel normal.
Whether it's a few hours each week, a weekend away or cover for a fortnight, they stay at home in familiar surroundings and you get a genuine break.
Time to recharge, without the worry.
Home care in Bognor Regis,

Peace of mind while you're away
A clear handover before you go and a team you can reach while you're away, so you can rest properly knowing everything is taken care of.
Not sure what you need? That’s completely fine. Let’s start with a conversation.
We're a local family, caring for yours.
Our family's caring story began in the 1990s. Nightingales Care was established in Bognor Regis in 2009, carrying forward the same belief that people deserve kindness, dignity and to feel truly known.
We're independent, not a national franchise. That means a local team you can speak to, and care shaped around the person rather than a standard package.
Personal, not one-size-fits-all
We start with the person: what they enjoy, what matters to them and how they want to live.
Familiar faces you can trust
We know that trust takes time, so continuity and relationships are an important part of how we care.
Here for families as well
We're available to talk through concerns, explain the options and review care as circumstances change.
A short break today. More support if it's needed tomorrow.
For many families, respite care is the first step. It might start with a few hours a week or cover for a holiday, and over time it can grow into regular visits, overnight support or live-in care if that's what's needed.
There's no commitment to more than you want. We'll talk through what would help now, put together a personalised plan, and review it with you as your situation changes.

A LITTLE CLARITY
Your questions,
answered.
There’s no such thing as a small question when it comes to choosing care.
What is respite care at home?
Respite care is short-term care that gives a family carer a break. One of our trained carers looks after your loved one in their own home, following their usual routines, so you can rest, attend appointments or go away knowing they're well cared for.
How short or long can respite care be?
It's completely flexible. Some families book a few hours each week, while others need cover for a weekend, a week's holiday or a few weeks while they recover from an operation. We'll plan the support around what you need.
Can you provide respite care at short notice?
Where we can, yes. If something unexpected happens, such as illness, a hospital stay or a family emergency, call us and we'll do our best to arrange cover quickly, subject to carer availability.
Will the carer follow my loved one's existing care plan?
Yes. Before care starts we'll meet you both and get to know their routines, preferences and any existing care plan. The carer follows what's been agreed, so their day carries on as normally as possible while you're away.
Can respite care include personal care and medication support?
Yes. Depending on what's agreed, respite visits can include personal care, meals and hydration, medication reminders or assistance, and plenty of companionship.
What if we need more support after respite care?
Many families start with respite care. If it would help to carry on, we can talk about regular home visits, overnight care or live-in care, and adjust the plan as needs change.
Which areas do you cover for respite care?
We provide respite care at home across Bognor Regis, Felpham, Aldwick, Pagham and Chichester. If you're not sure whether we cover your area, just give us a call.
