Care You Can Trust,

From Our Family to Yours

A proud, independent care company supporting local families for three generations.

Where dignity, kindness and reassurance come first

For many families choosing care, the most important thing is knowing their loved one will be treated with kindness and respect.

Nightingales Care has been built on those values for over three generations, offering a reliable home care service that puts people first.

As a family-run service, we understand the worries, the questions and the reassurance you need at every stage.

A Family Tradition

of Caring

for Older People

Nightingales Care has always been, at its heart, a family effort. Our story began in the 1990s with the first generation of our family, June McIndoe, who ran The Mount Residential Home in Witley, Surrey. June had a natural gift for caring for older people and devoted her life to creating a warm, homely place where residents felt genuinely looked after.

Her son Gary and his wife Sue supported her from the very beginning. When June retired and the family moved to West Sussex, Gary and Sue continued her legacy by opening their own residential home, Summerfields in Selsey. It was during this time that they saw just how many people wanted to continue living at home for as long as possible. Families were looking for help much earlier than the point of residential care.

That understanding shaped the next chapter of our family story.

In 2009, Nightingales Care was born — a home care service grounded in the gentle, family values June had always lived by. Kindness. Reliability. Treating every person with the same respect and warmth we’d want for our own loved ones.

Over the years the service has grown steadily, not through big advertising campaigns or corporate branches, but through local families recommending us to one another. And today, the third generation of our family is proudly involved in the business.

Kez has been part of Nightingales since 2015 and knows the service inside out. Stuart brings years of experience from running multiple care branches with national franchises. Between them they bring fresh ideas grounded in real expertise while keeping our family’s original values firmly at the centre.

Being independent means we make decisions based on what is right for the people we support, not what suits a head office. We take the time to listen. We get to know each person properly. And we work with families to make daily life feel calmer, safer and more manageable.
